“Peter Robertson is a man of great integrity,
sensitivity and capability. He led BRANZ from a moribund position
to one of significant strength with great potential in the
marketplace. All of this was accomplished in the short period
of three years. The changes caused much of the deeply entrenched
ethos of the past to be challenged and yet there was virtually
no unplanned loss of key staff. This facilitated a rapid transition
to the new model, a skilful piece of management of people.
A key element of the change was the development
of a completely new management information system, a task
which happened progressively over a year and which for the
first time in the history of the firm enabled issues of accountability
at various levels to
be addressed.
From observing many such rescue operations
in my years as an independent director of both private and
publicly listed companies in a number of different industries,
I rate this turn around at BRANZ as the best I have seen.”
